If you're a small-block lover or a fan of the '55 Bel Air, then you'll appreciate the significance of being 50 years young, since both of these Chevy icons hit the mark during 2005. It's also difficult to comprehend just how much each of these legends have impacted the automotive performance enthusiast. Every single one of us has come to appreciate the significance of the small-block. And without it .

Where would we be? Journeyman photographer Randy "an eye for the extreme" Lorentzen pulled out all the stops in the Plimedia photo studio when he lined up a pair of legendary small-block motors for this month's awesome image. From its humble beginnings, the 265-inch mini-Mouse to the latest high-tech all-aluminum Gen III LS6, the little V-8 is the standard powerplant by which all others are measured.
